Bahama Cruise

After a long first year of medical school, during which we hardly had time to celebrate our five year anniversary, my birthday, and didn't have much time to spend together, Justin and I left the kids in good hands and headed off on a cruise to the Bahamas. It was a much needed vacation for both of us and we had such a great time! There's a ton of pictures, mostly for journaling sake but hopefully you enjoy them too!

Saturday we flew to Orlando and stayed overnight in a hotel:
After a long day of traveling we were grateful to have a night to relax and get rested up before the cruise. The next morning we were well rested and ready to go!

Above: on the bus on our transfer from Orlando to Port Canaveral

As we were getting closer to Port, we could see several huge cruise ships lined up, this one was ours:

We were both so surprised at how organized and smoothly the embarkation process was. After we got off the buses we went through security and got our room key. Then we waited for a few minutes to be able to get on the ship. We were on the ship by 11:30 am.

We weren't allowed to go into our rooms until 1:30pm so we went to get lunch at the buffet, relaxed on the deck, and explored the monstrous vessel. When we did make it into our room, we enjoyed to view from our portholes!

The first night we went to a gameshow and the contestants came from the audience. Justin was one of those lucky contestants!

And he won!

And of course you've heard of the towel animals. The first night it was an elephant. We thought it was funny that our room stewardess used our sunglasses to accessorize!

On Monday we stopped in Freeport. We took a taxi downtown to the beach and to shop around a bit.

The beach was gorgeous with white sand and clear water. Justin loved being in the ocean and I enjoyed laying in the sun.

Afternoon #2-- Manta Ray.

The second night was also formal night, we went to dinner, enjoyed a show, and played a little shuffleboard.

Justin and I loved to stand at the front or back of the boat and watch the water move under us and feel the sea wind blowing. It is so relaxing! The view from the front of the boat:

Enjoying our virgin daiquiris!

Night 2--a dog.

Day 3 we went to Nassau. It was amazing! We spent most of the day at Atlantis, a huge resort right on the beach. It also had a water park with a mile long lazy river and several slides. We had so much fun and it was gorgeous. Definitely my favorite part of the trip!

The buildings in the back of these two pictures were where the water slides were.

The beach:

It was crazy being able to see the sand at the bottom of the ocean when we were standing with water up to our waists. The water was so clear!

This was the actual resort, it was huge...This was only one wing of it.

After Atlantis we went back to downtown Nassau and shopped some souvenir shops and the straw market. On our way back to the ship we had to walk through a building with different craft booths and this guy was singing in the middle of it:

I saw this and had to pose in it!

On our way down to dinner that night we posed with our room steward Lilia. She was from Romania, and was super sweet. We thought the customer service was all around excellent. Everyone knew our names and were so helpful.

At dinner waiting for our food:

Every night at dinner the wait staff did some sort of performance. We missed it the first two nights because we didn't know and were in and out too quickly. But this night they did a dance. Our waiter convinced Justin to get up and join him....it didn't take much convincing!

Night 3--Monkey

Our last day was our day at sea. We spent the day miniature golfing, playing more shuffleboard, reading out on the deck, and going to the trivia activities.

Night 4--Seal

Our last night on the "Sensation"

We had so much fun on our trip. By the time it was over we were ready to see our babies again, but sad to know that it was over. I guess we'll just have to look forward to another one in our far distant future!

Thanks Mom for watching our kids so we could go play in the sun!
