One weekend we were anxious to get out of town and we decided to visit our country's capital for a day. It was a 2 1/2 hour drive and the kids, of course, got bored. To entertain ourselves we pulled out the camera and started snapping pictures.
Kobe's face is showing exactly how was feeling at this point.
Lily was all smiles despite the sun in her face.
Kobe took this picture of me as well as about 50 pictures of his feet, legs and the back of my chair.
After finding a parking spot, our first stop was the White House.
The sun was so bright the kids would not look at the camera.
While we were there we could see security men on the roof of the white house moving around, pretty cool!
Next up was Yojo! While I was researching free things to do in DC, I came across a Saturday theater series for young children. The day we were there so was Yojo. Yojo and his friend put on a very entertaining show about how much fun it is to read. The kids LOVED it!
Waiting for it to start.
And Yojo himself! On the ride home Kobe chanted, "The more you read, the smarter you get!" over and over and over again. I finally begged him to stop after at least 20 minutes!
Next we decided to take a lunch break. One of our favorite restaurants in South Carolina was right by where we were all day so we decided to stop in for lunch. The only problem was we couldn't find it anywhere. We walked all the way around the block, and then several blocks. We called them and that wasn't any help. We checked in the food court in the Ronald Reagan building, not there. Finally after much walking we found it tucked in a food court behind a hotel right next door to the theater we started at. A lot of walking, but it was soooooo worth it!
After lunch we went to the Museum of Natural History. Kobe was really looking forward to this part of the day!
We saw some awesome things there. I would love to go back sometime without the kids so I could read some of the information at the exhibits!
Next we walked a few blocks to the National Air and Space Museum.
There were some really fun hands on activities for the kids and while I enjoyed the other museum better, Justin and Kobe could have spent more time here if we all weren't so tired!
After a long exciting day involving a lot of walking, we were all tired and ready to go home! We had a lot of fun and hopefully we'll make it back to DC again to see some of the many things we weren't able to see this time.
