Here we go. . . the first post!!!

So I started this blog a very long time ago and this is my very first post. I've just never known how to start, but there is soooo much going on right now I figured I should let everyone know.

Medical School
After a whole lot of applications, a couple of interviews, and an enormous amount of waiting, Justin will finally be able to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a doctor. He got accepted to the College of Podiatric Medicine & Surgery at Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. He starts the 4-year program this August. We feel tremendously blessed for this opportunity, and are excited to be able to plan the next chapter in our lives.

The Move
The first weekend in May our lease was up at the apartment we were living in. So instead of paying an extra $200 a month to stay there for a few more months, the in-laws were gracious enough to let us all move in to their house. We were sad to leave our home behind, we have two wonderful years full of memories in that apartment...but we are really just grateful for the exciting new adventures ahead of us. Kobe even now after a whole month points and says "Doby's house" every time we drive past. Giving up our own space and having to store all of our own belongings for a few months, hasn't been easy but we are enjoying our time at the Hookers. We will be sad to move away from them in July.

Graduation
After 2 years, Justin completed his masters degree in Exercise Science here at the University of South Carolina. We all attended his graduation to cheer him on. I am so proud of all the time and hard work he put into school, he even graduated with a 4.0--Go Justin!!! If only we were done with school...

Summer Plans
We already spent a fun-filled weekend in Utah for a couple weddings and a baby blessing. Now we are trying to fill our time doing all the things here in SC we should have been doing the entire time we've lived here. Today we went to the zoo. Kobe loves animals, but only at a distance. He always says, "touch puppy, touch puppy" but as soon as the puppy gets anywhere near him he backs up and grabs onto mommy or daddy's legs. Today we thought it would be fun to let him ride on a pony. Kobe kept saying, "ride the pony, ride the pony, touch the pony, touch the pony." As soon as we put him on the pony he just about jumped right back off into my arms. Maybe next time! Thursday we have plans to go to Myrtle Beach, and hopefully we will make it to Charleston before we move. In a couple weeks Justin and I will drive to Iowa and spend a couple days finding a place to live, and in three weeks we will be going to Utah to spend a few weeks with my family. The middle of July we will be moving to Iowa! How exciting does all that sound, Justin said the other day, "we will never forget this summer!" I agree, we a lot of wonderful changes happening and we are just excited for the future.
