First Trip to the Dentist

Last week the kids had their first Dentist visit.  I was worried that Kobe nor Lilian would sit in the chair and let strange people look in their mouths, so I tried to prepare them the best I could.  One day while we were brushing our teeth I told them that a dentist was a doctor for our teeth. We talked about their appointment and what would happen. Everyday we talked about the dentist and we even checked out books on the subject. I'm so glad we did!  The kids were great!  Even Lilian, who I have to tackle down to the ground in order to brush her teeth, sat in the chair and was extremely cooperative.

Kobe went first
The hygienist was so good about explaining what all of the tools were and letting him touch them before she put them into his mouth.

He got to wear some pretty cool shades to keep the light out of his eyes while the dentist was checking out his teeth.

As soon as Kobe climbed out of the chair, Lily hopped out of my lap and jumped into the chair. She was ready!
The kids got to watch TV while they were in the chair and they pulled a chair over for Kobe so he could sit by Lily.

The hygienist held out the tool for Lily to touch it and Lilian just leaned forward to put it in her mouth.  She already knew what it was for.
Lily even insisted on wearing the sunglasses even though they didn't turn on the light for her. The hygienist said she was surprised at how well Lily was sitting in the chair because normally little kids won't sit in it and sit in their parent's lap instead.  I think she wanted to be just like her big brother!

All done! Just examining her new toothbrush.

The dentist said they both had good teeth and NO CAVITIES! Yay! As we were leaving Kobe asked, "Can we come back next week?"  I'm so glad they had a good time!

I'm glad it went so good. Noah has his first one next week. Yikes! Can you imagine me trying to get him to sit still! Ha Ha!
